Makkah is in the tropics, so day length changes far less through the year than in northern cities, and Fajr and Isha are always easy to calculate. Saudi Arabia does not change its clocks, so Makkah stays on Arabia Standard Time (UTC+3) all year.
Today is Tuesday 27 October 2026, which is 16 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH in the Hijri calendar.
Because the Kaaba is in Makkah itself, there is no qibla bearing to calculate here. To find the direction of prayer from wherever you are, use our Qibla Finder.

Daylight in Makkah
On 21 June, the longest day, the sun is up in Makkah for 13 hours 27 minutes between sunrise and sunset. On 21 December, the shortest day, it is up for 10 hours 50 minutes, a difference of 2 hours 37 minutes. The difference is small because Makkah is in the tropics, where the length of the day changes little from season to season.
How These Times Are Calculated for Makkah
The times for Makkah use the Umm al-Qura (Makkah) method, which sets Fajr at 18.5 degrees and Isha at 90 minutes after Maghrib (120 in Ramadan). They are worked out from the position of the sun at 21.42 degrees latitude and 39.83 degrees longitude and shown in the Asia/Riyadh time zone, so they are in local time whatever device you use. The clocks here do not change during the year, so the times never jump by an hour.
Dhuhr begins just after the sun passes its highest point, and Maghrib begins at sunset. Sunrise is not a prayer time, but it marks the end of the time for Fajr, and the hours between sunrise and sunset make up the day length shown above. Asr is shown two ways: in the standard method it begins when the shadow of an object equals its height, and in the Hanafi method when the shadow equals twice its height.
These times are calculated, so they may differ by a minute or two from a mosque timetable, and congregational times are set by your local mosque. To find times for another place, or to use your own location, go to our prayer times page.
Makkah Prayer Times FAQ
Which calculation method does this page use for Makkah?
This page uses the Umm al-Qura method, which is the method used in Saudi Arabia. It sets Fajr when the sun is 18.5 degrees below the horizon and sets Isha a fixed 90 minutes after Maghrib, extended to 120 minutes during Ramadan. The times are calculated and may differ by a minute or two from a published timetable.
When is Isha in Ramadan in Makkah?
Under the Umm al-Qura method Isha normally comes 90 minutes after Maghrib, but in Ramadan the gap is extended to 120 minutes. This page applies the longer gap automatically for dates in Ramadan. The local start of Ramadan can differ by a day depending on moon sighting, so follow the announcement made in Saudi Arabia.
Do Makkah prayer times change when clocks change?
No. Saudi Arabia does not change its clocks, so Makkah stays on Arabia Standard Time (UTC+3) all year. Prayer times still move gradually through the year because the sun rises and sets at slightly different times, but there is no sudden one-hour jump of the kind seen in places that move their clocks in spring and autumn.
What is the difference between standard and Hanafi Asr?
Asr begins when an object's shadow equals its height in the standard method, used by the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools, and when it equals twice its height in the Hanafi method, so Hanafi Asr starts later. Both times are shown on this page. Which one applies to you depends on the school you follow or the timetable your local mosque publishes.
