London's prayer times shift a lot through the year. In winter the five prayers fit into a short day, and in summer the days are long and the hours between Maghrib and Isha and between Fajr and sunrise change quickly from week to week.
Today is Tuesday 27 October 2026, which is 16 Jumada al-Ula 1448 AH in the Hijri calendar.

Daylight in London
On 21 June, the longest day, the sun is up in London for 16 hours 39 minutes between sunrise and sunset. On 21 December, the shortest day, it is up for 7 hours 49 minutes, a difference of 8 hours 50 minutes.
How These Times Are Calculated for London
The times for London use the Muslim World League method, which sets Fajr at 18 degrees and Isha at 17 degrees. They are worked out from the position of the sun at 51.51 degrees latitude and -0.13 degrees longitude and shown in the Europe/London time zone, so they are in local time whatever device you use. The clocks here change twice a year, and the tables follow local clock time.
Dhuhr begins just after the sun passes its highest point, and Maghrib begins at sunset. Sunrise is not a prayer time, but it marks the end of the time for Fajr, and the hours between sunrise and sunset make up the day length shown above. Asr is shown two ways: in the standard method it begins when the shadow of an object equals its height, and in the Hanafi method when the shadow equals twice its height.
These times are calculated, so they may differ by a minute or two from a mosque timetable, and congregational times are set by your local mosque.
Fajr and Isha in London
Roughly from late May to mid July, the sky over London does not get dark enough for Fajr and Isha to be worked out from the sun's angle. This page uses the seventh-of-the-night rule in that period, which places Fajr a seventh of the night before sunrise and Isha a seventh of the night after Maghrib. The period lasts about 8 weeks, which is the stretch of the year when the sun stays within 18 degrees of the horizon at midnight. In late spring and summer the sky over London never becomes fully dark, so Fajr and Isha cannot be worked out from the sun's angle alone. Calculators use a high-latitude rule instead, and local mosques may follow a different one, so always check your mosque's timetable for congregational times.
Clock Changes in London
The clocks in London change in spring and autumn, so prayer times on the clock jump by an hour on the day of the change even though the sun itself has not moved. The monthly table already follows local clock time, so you can read the times straight from it.

London Prayer Times FAQ
Why do London prayer times differ from my mosque?
The times here are calculated from the sun's position using the Muslim World League method. Many London mosques publish their own timetable, often using a different method, a fixed rule for Fajr or Isha, or set congregational times that sit a few minutes after the start of each prayer. For congregational prayer, follow your mosque's timetable.
What happens to Fajr and Isha in London in summer?
In late spring and summer the sun does not sink far enough below the horizon for the sky to become fully dark, so the usual twilight angles are never reached. Calculators then use a high-latitude rule, such as a fraction of the night, and mosques may choose different approaches. Your local mosque's timetable is the best guide for these weeks.
Do prayer times change when the clocks change?
The sun does not change, but the clock does. When UK clocks go forward in spring or back in autumn, every prayer time on the clock moves by about an hour, because the timetable follows local clock time. The times on this page already follow the correct local time, so you do not need to adjust them yourself.
What is the difference between standard and Hanafi Asr in London?
Asr begins when an object's shadow equals its height in the standard method, used by the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali schools, and when it equals twice its height in the Hanafi method, so Hanafi Asr starts later. Both times are shown on this page for London. Which one applies to you depends on the school you follow or the timetable your local mosque publishes.
